Google Docs needs a feature where you can set variables that translate into text. This would make Google Docs so much more useful. For example, if I have a letter which addresses several people by name, I would like to be able to use variables where the names occur, and set the variable once in an index of variables, so that if I want to change the document to address someone else, I can just change the variables in the index rather than doing a search and replace over the entire document, which is prone to error. There is no good reason Google Docs doesn't have this feature. This is such a useful feature, it's a shame you don't already have this. I have been begging for this feature for years. Please add this feature!
